How to Write Headlines

Aaron Elson spent 40 years as a copy editor at the New York Post, New York Daily News and Bergen Record before being laid off in 2008. He is currently producing a series of World War II oral history audiobooks. One of his early ambitions was to write a textbook on headlines. These are some of his reflections.

Aaron Elson
Aaron Elson went to a reunion of the 712th Tank Battalion in 1987. He was so moved by the stories he heard from veterans of the unit with which his father served that he returned two reunions later with a tape recorder. The rest is history. Oral history.
